The Globalstar GSP-1600 Handheld Satellite Phone keeps you connected in remote places where traditional communications are not reliable or non-existent.  The Globalstar GSP1600 is an integrated phone that offers clear voice and short message services through three separate technologies: Globalstar satellite, CDMA digital cellular and AMPS analog cellular. 

Smaller than most cordless phones, the Globalstar 1600 gives you crystal-clear digital satellite voice connections, access to cellular systems where available, and provides real-world Internet and E-mail Access (with optional Globalstar Data Kit).  A full range of accessories, including Vehicle Kits, and many innovative Globalstar-approved third-party products, help customize a solution to keep you in contact wherever you may be.

The accessories for GSP1700 ARE NOT interchangeble with GSP1600 SatPhone accessories.

Important Notice:
In early 2007, Globalstar announced an anomaly in the satellite S-band antenna amplifier affecting service and call quality.  A re-configuration of its satellite constellation was performed to facilitate the launch of 8 new satellites into orbit by mid-2007.  Subscriber's service will continue to be available; however, at certain times in any given location it will take substantially longer to establish calls and the average duration of calls may be impacted adversely.
